Born on 11th January 1950 into a conservative Christian family, (Late) Rev. I. Asir, began his earthly journey in a small village in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu. At the age of 15 he committed his life to Jesus and in the year 1970 he obeyed God’s call for full time ministry and joined the Tamil Nadu Bible College, Madurai, to equip himself for the same.
In December 1974, God blessed him with a wonderful life partner Sis. Daisy, a woman of prayer, vision & faith. In the year 1979, answering God’s call, they came to Pondicherry amidst a lot of adversities, and started a church in a rented house. With no other source of encouragement, just holding on to God’s promise, they kept moving towards their goal of reaching the masses with the Word of God.
Though the church started with a humble beginning with absolutely no believers for the first 6 months, God kept his promise and started blessing the ministry and added souls to the church in hundreds. God blessed the church and the main church building foundation stone was laid on 3rd June 1997 and by faith and prayers the church building with a capacity to accommodate 3000 people was completed and dedicated on 3rd June 2007.
(Late) Rev. I. Asir had a great zeal towards the missions’ field and served as the Missions’ Director of Tamil District Council of South India Assemblies of God (SIAG) for a period of 5 years until his death on 20th of December, 2010. He financed, and supported 120 missionaries in various parts of India and dedicated his time to mission trips. God enabled him to plant 32 churches within Pondicherry and 7 churches in other states. Through “Vision India”, he trained 460 believers to minister and work in the villages of Pondicherry. Three model “Village House Churches” were built and dedicated by him in Pondicherry and he had a vision to build 100 such “Village House Churches”.
The vision and commitment that (Late) Rev. I. Asir had towards the Lord’s work, is being carried forward by the Hallelujah Assembly of God Pastors and the congregation under the leadership of his eldest son, Rev. Stephen Asir, and Pr. Praveen Isaac Asir.

(Late) Mrs. Daisy Asir lovingly referred to as Pastor Amma was born on July 7th, 1947 in Pulvilai a small village in Nagercoil district of Tamil Nadu. Growing up in a conservative Christian environment she loved the Lord dearly and desired to do His will. In December, 1974 she was blessed with a wonderful life partner: a man after God’s heart (Late) Rev. Asir. After their marriage she distinctly heard the voice of God instructing them to start ministering in Pondicherry. The couple soon decided to obey God’s command and moved to Pondicherry in 1979. (Late) Mrs. Daisy Asir stood by her husband through all the struggles and hostilities that they faced during their initial days of ministry in Pondicherry. Even as the church grew from no believers to hundreds of believers, she continued to persevere in prayer and live a life of complete faith.

She never stopped her husband from following his goals of reaching the unreached, and going on ministry trips to even remote places of Northern India. She also had a heart for the poor and loved to visit those who were struggling to encourage them and pray for them. She was a very cheerful giver and generously helped people in times of their need. She loved cooking, and lovingly served not just her family but all those she hosted.
After the untimely and sudden demise of Rev. Asir on December 20th, 2010, (Late) Mrs. Daisy Asir boldly stood by her grieving children and the congregation. She stood firm and encouraged her oldest son Rev. Steve Asir to take on the responsibilities of the church. Her relentless support and prayers motivated Rev. Steve Asir to overcome the trauma of losing his dad and taking over as the senior pastor while still grieving. As a result of a car accident, she had to undergo multiple surgeries and was bedridden for over a year. Despite undergoing various health setbacks and surgeries, she continued to relentlessly serve and help people. She was called to be with the Lord on July 4th 2017, after she underwent her 7th hip surgery.
We, the family, Pastors and the congregation miss her dearly but stand steadfast with the faith that we will all meet her someday on the other shore. Her perseverance in living a life worthy of her calling and her determination to overcome every obstacle through prayer testifies to the life she lived. Rev Steve Asir, Mrs. Dora Steve, Pr. Praveen Isaac Asir, Pr. Nixon and Mrs. Beulah Nixon hope to follow the footsteps of their wonderful parents and carry on the mission of reaching the unreached through a life of prayer and faith.
