Hallelujah Assembly of God Church, founded by the (Late) Rev. I Asir, located at the heart of Pondicherry, is the mother church for 30 Assemblies of God churches in this Union Territory.

It had its humble beginning on 3rd June, 1979 with no believers but with the pastor and his family having a burning passion for Pondicherry, the church started growing consecutively. In the early years, the church services were conducted in rented houses, and faced a lot of hardships. As the days went by, in 1984, the church was blessed with its own land and the worship was conducted in a simple shed.

Even through the hardships, the church extended its vision to support missionaries in the northern parts of India. As a result of which, today, the church supports numerous missionaries in various parts of India.

Meanwhile, God was faithful and blessed the church with the neighboring plot in 1992 and the foundation stone for the new building was laid in 1997. The new building, having a capacity to accommodate 3000 people at a time, along with other facilities, was dedicated in 2007. By the grace of God, in the year 2012, the church was blessed with the adjacent land for parking. On 2nd December 2017 the Hallelujah Tent erected in the parking plot for multi purpose was dedicated for the glory of God!
